| ELLEN PAGE AND DIANE KRUGER TO STAR IN LGBT SYLVIA BEACH BIOPICAs revealed by director Patricia Rozema in an interview back in December, the upcoming film is based on the true story of bookseller and publisher Sylvia Beach, the founder of legendary Paris bookstore Shakespeare and Company, and her lifelong partner Adrienne Monnier. It will be set in 1920’s Paris.
Ellen Page will star as Sylvia Beach, and according to WWD, Diane Kruger will play Beach’s lover, Adrienne Monnier. Another currently unnamed well-known actor has also been attached to the project. This will mark Page’s second collaboration with Rozema, following Into The Forest (2015). Filming will begin in March.
Shakespeare and Company gained considerable fame after it published James Joyce’s controversial Ulysses in 1922. Beach also encouraged the publication and sold copies of, Hemingway’s first book, Three Stories and Ten Poems (1923).
Kruger told People Magazine: “We play lovers, so we will get to know each other very well,” she says, adding, “I’ve never kissed a woman.”
