A brand new video for Vice‘s new channel, Viceland has been released! The advertisement includes some good amount of footage from Ellen’s documentary Gaycation. Check it out below!
Most of the big media news these days is about the unbundling of cable television into pieces you can pay to access with just an internet connection. But Vice Media, which started as a government-subsidized paper-and-ink magazine and has since become a surging player in the digital media space, is making a move into traditional linear television. The New York Times is reporting that it plans to launch its channel, Viceland, in February of 2016, part of a partnership with its investor, A&E.
Vice has already been dabbling in traditional television, producing a longform news program in partnership with HBO. The slate of shows for the new channel, whose development has been overseen by Spike Jonze, includes new titles like Gaycation with Ellen Page and Portraits with Marc Maron, as well as titles it already hosts on YouTube like Weediquette and Fuck That’s Delicious.

Lo scorso Agosto, il comizio del candidato alla presidenza americana Ted Cruz (senatore per lo Stato del Texas e repubblicano conservatore) fu interrotto dall'intervento di Ellen Page. L'attrice si fece avanti per discutere con il politico sui diritti negati alla comunità LGBT, come il matrimonio civile, e oltre alle telecamere dei notiziari, anche quelle di Vice erano lì per riprendere il dibattito. Quello stesso materiale video è finito nella nuova serie prodotta per il nuovo network tv di Vice VICELAND: Gaycation è quindi il frutto di un lungo e ispirato viaggio di Ellen Page per scoprire come vivono le comunità LGBT di diverse culture, in compagnia dell'amico Ian Daniels.
Stati Uniti, Brasile, Giappone, Giamaica, ogni luogo vibra di differenze sociali ed esseri umani la cui voce è stata censurata, a volte violata. "Sono una persona privilegiata, anzi, sono una persona gay privilegiata" ha detto l'attrice, "Questo progetto mi ha aiutato a capire meglio quanto le persone siano vulnerabili e volevo che riuscissero a condividere la loro storia con tutti".
